Dr. Evelyn B. Harrell, LCSW, LAC is the Interim Dean for the College of Arts and Sciences and Program Director/Professor of the Addictive Behaviors Counseling and Prevention (ABCP) Program at Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO). Dr. Harrell has over 38 years of professional experience as a social worker, addiction counselor, and educator. She currently teaches undergraduate courses in the ABCP Program at Southern University at New Orleans but also has graduate teaching experience at the Tulane School of Social Work. She is a graduate of the Tulane School of Social Work (PhD, MSW) and earned the BSW from SUNO. Her research interests include religious and spiritual values among older African-American women, volunteerism, resiliency among older adults, disaster planning, and community development from a strengths’ perspective. She has published in the area of resiliency among older adults, disaster planning, and university and community partnerships.
